Summary

We're seeking a talented Drama teacher to join our dynamic Arts and Technology department, with potential to lead the team. You'll deliver Drama across KS 3/4 while contributing to a department serving Early Years to Year 13 across music, drama, art, design technology, and computer science. This role suits someone combining strong theatrical expertise with enthusiasm for educational innovation

Position Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
  • Deliver engaging, practical drama lessons across KS 3/4, differentiating for all abilities.
  • Plan and teach in accordance with clearly defined curriculum goals.
  • Develop student creativity, confidence, and theatrical skills through student-centered approaches.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management, particularly for practical work.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Monitor and record student progress with excellent administrative skills.
  • Use educational technology to enhance learning and broaden theatrical experiences.
  • Adapt flexibly to distance learning requirements if necessary.
  • Serve as form tutor, supporting student wellbeing and academic care.
  • Contribute to whole-school events, performances, and enrichment activities.
  • If also performing Head of Arts and Technology, lead curriculum development and line manage department colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal or Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree in relevant subject area (Master's preferred)
  • Current teaching certification from nationally recognized institution

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Previous experience teaching IGCSE Drama (preferred).
  • Experience with Google Workspace.

Skills

  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of continued professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate within a team.
  • Ability to lead an after-school activity.
