Summary
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic English language and literature teacher to join our dynamic English
Department.
The successful candidate will teach KS3 English language and literature, as well as KS4 Edexcel IGCSE English
language and English literature. There may also be an opportunity to join our A level team, teaching Edexcel A
level English language and literature.
We are looking for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about English, committed to achieving excellent
outcomes for students, and eager to make a positive contribution to the wider English department.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across KS3/4, differentiating for the full range of abilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and proficiently.
- Have decisiveness in classroom management.
- Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum.
- Plan and teach a student-centred curriculum that develops skills, knowledge, creativity, and confidence.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Observe, monitor and record student progress with excellent personal administration skills.
- Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class.
- Use educational technology effectively to enhance learning and broaden learning experiences.
- Be flexible and adaptable to changes with regards to distance learning if necessary.
- Be committed to the school’s pastoral system in the role of form tutor.
- Be committed to supporting student wellbeing and academic care.
- Champion digital literacy initiatives and innovative practice.
- Contribute to whole-school events, performances, and enrichment activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Headteacher or the Assistant Principals.
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
● University degree in the subject area of employment (master’s degree preferred).
● Current teacher certification in the required subject area. Certification should be from a nationally recognised
institution with a minimum of two years of teaching.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience:
- Proven track record teaching IGCSE at secondary level.
- Experience with G Suite.
Skills:
- Ability to inspire students across ability levels.
- Excellent communication; clear, professional, and approachable.
- Ability to lead or contribute to extra-curricular activities.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Fluent in English and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
- Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
