Summary
The ASD media specialist is a key member of a dynamic team serving the marketing and communication office and American School Dhahran. The position is primarily responsible for producing a wide range of media (photography, video and graphics), editing as necessary, designing print-ready artwork, managing ASD social media and maintaining a close working relationship with the marketing and communication office, the ASD teachers and administrators and other ISG media specialists.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Stay informed of events and activities happening at the school.
- Get to know the teachers and the curriculum and develop a strong relationship with staff.
- Develop a strong understanding of the school’s culture and activities.
- Manage the ASD social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook), in alignment with ASD and ISG branding and Social Media
- Guidelines, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating an engaged social media community.
- Take pictures using a smartphone or DSLR camera and edit them as needed.
- Produce, develop and implement social media content daily.
- Record, edit, produce and ensure high quality copy, photography, audio, video material and edit as necessary and at all times.
- Write compelling copy for Facebook and Instagram that encourages engagement and interaction.
- Work with a wide range of media to produce all photography, illustrations, design, infographics and presentations.
- Post on social media feed and stories, create reels and videos according to the social media marketing plan and as needed.
- Take initiative in prioritizing tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
- Respond to urgent requests from the MarComm office.
- Develop design briefs that suit purpose, creatively produce new ideas and concepts.
- Work with designers to create graphics for posts.
- Source and liaise with printers.
- Project manage production from conception to completion.
- Record monthly data analytics for the ASD Instagram page
- Stay up to date on activities and events happening at school.
- Stay up to date with social media trends, concepts, best practices, updates, procedures, tools and software and make recommendations as needed.
- Assist in identifying potential appropriate social media channels for future use.
- Stay after work or work weekends for after school activities, athletic events and special events, as needed.
- Set up a photo studio and take photos of students and staff for the yearbook.
- Maintain communication and working relationship with all stakeholders: ASD principal, staff and teachers, MarComm team and admissions team.
- Respond to queries received through social media in a professional manner. Encourage and respond to positive community engagement on social media
- Think and act quickly with a dynamic approach to problem-solving.
- Take direction from the ISG social media and alumni coordinator. Work with the district social media team to plan and implement social media strategy, themes and concepts and to develop innovative and on-brand content.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the marketing and communication manager.
- Learn to set up and conduct a livestream for special events.
- Conduct school tours as needed according to a provided script.
- Exercise reasonable judgment.
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the use of social media.
- Experience and knowledge of graphic design concepts.
- Experience in photography is a must.
