Summary
The Instructional Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting classroom teachers in implementing the curriculum. This role involves supervising learners and extending education beyond the classroom through lunch or recess activities to reinforce learning.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum for students.
- Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times.
- Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class.
- Supervise students during lunch and other break times.
- Assist with transitions during and between classes.
- Organize classrooms, work centers, and activity areas.
- Maintain instructional supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Demonstrate creativity.
- From time to time may be asked to assist with daily hygiene routines.

Qualifications And Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
Experience And Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience
- Previous experience working in a classroom.
- Experience with Google Suite / Google Apps for Education.
Skills
- Familiarity with school administrative tasks and learning methods.
- Great communication and organizational skills.
- Cool-tempered and positive attitude.
- Firm but kind personality.
- A love for teaching and the ability to build a trusting relationship with students, teachers, and parents.
