Summary

we are looking for a band teacher, who will be part of a dynamic and highly successful Art Department.  The position carries responsibility for teaching band to middle and high school students. 

Position Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
  • Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum.
  • Deliver instrumental musical instruction.
  • Direct MS/HS instrumental performers, such as orchestra, concert band and ensembles.
  • Conduct band rehearsal.
  • Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, pep rallies, etc.
  • Accompany and supervise students on in-kingdom and out-of-kingdom musical trip.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Deliver an active, hands-on and student-centred programme to promote learning.
  • Maintain students’ attendance records, grades and other required records.
  • Evaluate and grade students’ class work and assignments.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Assist students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.
  • Observe, monitor and record student progress.
  • Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class.
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Demonstrate creativity.
  • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
  • Provide supervision to a student “after school activity” or coach/assistant coach the athletic team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal or Principal.

Qualifications and Knowledge

he ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in music.
  • Certification as a teacher.
  • Prior experience as a high school band teacher.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral.

  • Experience as a MS/HS band teacher.

  • Strong skills as a musician.
  • Ability to play one or more instruments.
  • Good knowledge of musical theory and styles.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maturity to handle a range of situations.
  • Sound knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality.
