Summary

ISG Jubail seeks a dynamic and inspiring IB Spanish and World Languages teacher with a passion for engaging students in developing fluency, cultural understanding, and global awareness through meaningful communication and authentic learning experiences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to a well-rounded and flexible program that promotes interdisciplinary connections, literacy across languages, inquiry-based learning, and real-world application. Instruction will be guided by the IB Diploma Programme framework and modern language standards, encouraging students to become effective communicators, critical thinkers, and compassionate global citizens.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students in the middle and high school years, understanding their unique developmental needs and aspirations, and will contribute actively to the broader ISG Jubail community beyond the classroom. Position Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
  • Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum.
  • Deliver an active, hands-on and student-centred programme to promote learning in French to middle and high school students.
  • Maintain students' attendance records, grades and other required records.
  • Evaluate and grade students class work and assignments.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Assist students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.
  • Observe, monitor and record student progress.
  • Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Demonstrate creativity.
  • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
  • Provide supervision to student “after school activity” or coach/assistant coach athletic teams.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or the Assistant Principal.

Specifically with regard to IB Spanish / World Languages, the successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Deliver IB Spanish instruction according to the IBDP course guide and principles of best practices.
  • Scaffold student' construction of their own understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Create an environment where students passionately exercise agency in pursuing science.
  • Develop and foster interdisciplinary connections to the learning of science.
  • Be a champion for high school students, high school learning, and the high school program.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of the science curriculum.
  • Share interests and passions with students through the after-school program. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a qualification in Spanish (master's degree preferred).
  • Certification as a teacher.
  • Excellent command of Spanish, as a native language, and English,written, oral and comprehensive. 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Experience as a middle & high school Spanish teacher.
  • Previous IB Spanish teaching experience, or at an equivalent level.
  • Leading and inspiring students to be informed and inspired community members and leaders. 
  • Organizing student projects and performance tasks.
  • Designing interdisciplinary units of inquiry.
  • Documenting curriculum according to Understanding by Design (UbD) principles.
  • Collaborating in a professional setting with large and small groups of colleagues.
  • Leading groups of students and faculty.
